Updated: Nov 15, 2023

If you happen to be on the island of Gozo, here are our seven suggestions for great Gozo Cafes to visit on your well-deserved break!

Many people head to Gozo for a much-deserved break, especially during summer. We are often asked which, in our opinion, are the best places to stop for a coffee in Gozo. We have our favorites, of course, and we will share them with you for your next visit to Gozo.

Coffee Break

You’ve seen a lot of posts from Coffee Break Gozo on our feed. Coffee Break is in Triq Taħt Putirjal, Victoria, opposite the Victoria Playground. We keep returning to Coffee Break almost every time we are in Gozo. We particularly enjoy their flavored cappuccinos or smoothies when we visit. You must try the butter rolls, normally served with generous amounts of pistachio cream, hazelnut cream, and crushed pistachio! If you’re feeling hungry, there are plenty of delicious lunch and dinner options available! We quite like the pasta dishes and the duck salad!

Black Cat Cafe

Black Cat Cafe is a gorgeous little cafeteria located in the heart of Gozo. It is one of the cutest places we have visited on the island. Situated in front of the Vajringa library in Victoria (Vajringa street), this cafeteria offers many coffee and tea options and various brunch options and treats. I love visiting for their lattes, such as the Beetroot and Cacao (yum!), and their bagels! They currently have an iced raspberry chai. We recommend that you book beforehand to avoid disappointment because it is quite popular with visitors and the locals.

Victoria Central

Victoria Central's Specialty Coffee is a cozy coffee shop in Gozo, Malta that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Offering a variety of specialty coffees made with beans sourced from around the world, as well as teas, smoothies, and snacks, this café is a great place to sit down and relax while enjoying a delicious drink. With friendly and knowledgeable staff, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or get some work done. If you're a coffee lover in Gozo, Victoria Central's Specialty Coffee is a must-visit.

Preti Cafe

Situated in St George’s Square, right in front of the Basilica church, Preti Cafe offers various drink options such as pistachio coffees, beetroot lattes, or cocktails. They bring in their coffee from Lot61 and their teas from Tettiera. If you’re in the mood for a bite to eat, try the traditional ftira or the very large chicken burger. A variety of desserts, including cakes, awaits you. Given its location and view of the magnificent St Georges Basilica, Preti Cafe is very instagrammable, making way for gorgeous photos!

Tapies Bar

Tapies is one of the first places that come to mind when thinking about Gozo cafes. If you are looking for a proper place to the Gozitan / Maltese identity, look no further than Tapies. Almost everyone you meet is familiar with this iconic bar. It’s best known for its coffee, tea, and beer which you should combine with a couple (or more) of pastizzi. Locals mostly frequent the original Tapies Cafe. Expect to hear a couple of interesting stories from the friendly locals when you are there. You can find the original Tapies in St Francis Square and another Tapies Bar in St George Square.

Cafe Jubilee

Cafe Jubilee needs no introduction due to its popularity around the islands. Cafe Jubilee boasts outlets in both Malta and Gozo. Take advantage of the local produce sold at the cafe, such as honey, coffee, oils, vinegar, krustini, wines, and nanna’s ravioli. We recommend choosing a coffee and one of their delicious sandwiches or nanna’s homemade ravioli. Take a seat in Independence Square, Victoria, opposite Cafe Jubilee, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Noble Cafe & Bistro

Noble Cafe and Bistro has been open for the past year. With delicious beverages and food, and stylish decor, we recommend visiting Noble. There are various drinks to choose from, such as freshly made lemonade, iced lattes, and milkshakes. The food options are great. We hope to try the Mac and Cheese Meltdown Burger soon, as it looks amazing. We can vouch for the Nutella churros and the Apple and Blueberry pastizzi! Noble Cafe is located in Fortunato Mizzi Street, Victoria, opposite Arkadia.
